The International Baccalaureate Program
The state’s only school offering all enrolled students access to certified full-continuum International Baccalaureate (IB) programming.
The International School of Indiana through its commitment to the IB Program encourages critical thinking, creativity, self-motivation, and openness to new cultures and ideas. We do the most to prepare our students for the IB diploma and beyond. The skills learned at ISI serve students not only at the college of their choice but also in the even more challenging world outside.
Established as a non-profit international educational foundation in 1968, the IB is in almost 4,000 schools, in 147 countries offering its curriculums to over one million students between the ages of 3 and 19 and widely recognized as valuable preparation for college and beyond.
All of our faculty, from pre-elementary to high school, are trained IB practitioners for their appropriate level. Along with bilingual immersion and our international perspective, the IB is behind everything we do as a school.
Primary Years Program
3-year-old - Grade 5
Middle Years Program
Grades 6 - 10
Grades 11 & 12
The IB Primary Years Program (PYP) is an inquiry-based program for students 3-year-old through Grade 5.
The PYP takes the best of teaching and learning worldwide and combines them with the IB’s international school expertise to create classes that are challenging, exciting, and just right for kids with developing minds. They try out ideas and use their hands. They make connections. They share their observations and thoughts.
We also help them explore the world outside of their experience. They become aware of other cultures and peoples, exploring their common humanity while appreciating their differences—all with the goal of creating a better, more peaceful world.
The IB Middle Years Program (MYP) is for students Grade 6 through 10. In this part of the IB, students stretch their minds by exploring more complex ideas and by making connections between their studies and the world.
The Middle Years program continues the student-centered, inquiry-based approach of the Primary Years program. It adds an emphasis on student growth in problem-solving, reflection, investigation, and organized debate. The MYP prepares them to meet the challenges of the IB Diploma program, which begins in Grade 11.
The MYP encourages communication skills, understanding of cultural differences, and awareness of global connections – essential areas of growth for students in the process of becoming responsible world citizens.
The IB Diploma program is the final stage of the IB program at ISI and takes place in Grades 11 and 12. It’s a challenging but balanced program of study that prepares students for success at the university level and beyond.
The IB diploma is highly respected by institutions of higher learning in the United States and throughout the world. IB diploma students make connections across subject areas, explore the theory of knowledge, and study courses of their choice in six subject groups.
In May of their Grade 12 year, ISI students take their IB final exams. Students are tested in each of their chosen subjects, with 20-25% of each subject evaluated internally by their ISI instructor and the remaining portion evaluated by International Baccalaureate examiners.
IB exam results from previous year.
