Current and prospective ISI families should be aware that policies supporting our COVID-ready campuses
may supersede the descriptions of the programs and/or services described on this page.

Middle school at ISI represents a student's first years in the ISI Upper School.
Middle school serves students in grades 6 to 8.
The student experience includes the foundations of the IB Middle Years Program (MYP)
and a compulsory study abroad trip for students in grade 6.

Representing the transitional years between elementary and high school, ISI middle school sees students taking on new academic challenges and growing as responsible, independent thinkers.

School Day and classrooms

Middle school starts its day at 8:00 a.m. and ends classes at 3:30 p.m.

The student-to-faculty ratio in middle school is 9:1. Classes are small, typically having between 12 and 16 students.

Middle school students spend the majority their day in the Blackwell Building, where all grades 6 to 8 homerooms are located, but they will make the trip to the Taurel Building for some MYP classes.

An extended lunch period allows students the opportunity for faculty-monitored recreation time, often enjoyed outdoors when weather permits.
