Pre-Season Info
Head Coach: Dwayne Cobb
Team Size: Team minimum is 10 players, maximum is 15 student athletes. If there are more than 15 players, a JV Team will be established.
Conditioning/Open gyms: 10/21/2025 (meetings Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Date of first practice: 11/10/25
Parent & Coaches Meeting Date: 11/17/25 at 7:00 p.m.
Practice Schedule
Blackwell/Chen Gym on weekdays, 5:15 - 7:00 PM, except on game days.
Required by first practice:
These forms only need to be completed once a year, so Fall Athletics participants do not need to complete them.
All student athletes are required by the IHSAA to have a completed physical. If your child has not turned in the completed form to the Athletic Office, please schedule a physical immediately. You will need to take the IHSAA physical form to the appointment so that the physician may complete and sign it.
Equipment Checklist
These items are needed to participate and are not provided by the school
- Basketball shoes
- Water bottle
- Athletic apparel for practice (students are able to wear whatever athletic gear they feel comfortable in)
Facilities:
Most practices will take place in the Blackwell Gymnasium, but the team will occasionally use the Daneri Gymnasium as needed.
Travel
For practice: Students will walk to Blackwell gym after dismissal.
For away games: Students will bus to away games. Players will meet at the Blackwell Gym after school and wait for a bus to be ready.

The Gryphons shook off a slow, nerves-filled start to mount an impressive fourth-quarter surge. After trailing by 23, the young squad battled back to cut the deficit to just 8 before the final buzzer. Michael, Caleb, and Josh led the charge, each delivering standout performances that kept ISI in the fight. Their hustle and determination set the tone for a promising season ahead.
12/5 | Boys Varsity Basketball vs Lincoln School - Cambridge City | 53-75
The boys traveled to Cambridge City alongside the cheer squad and delivered a strong team effort. Michael Kreutz set the tone, shooting an impressive 9–10 from the field for 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Freshman Caleb Aikins added a big spark with 17 points and 5 steals, while Angus Conley filled the stat sheet with 6 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.

The Boys Varsity Basketball team wrapped up a strong season, marked by growth, grit, and a solid postseason run. With many new players stepping up, the team built chemistry quickly and pushed all the way to the second round of sectionals
Coach Bio
About Head Coach Cobb
Coach Dwayne Cobb is a driven, certified basketball coach with nearly 20 years of experience developing players and leading programs at the recreational, club, and school levels. Currently serving as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at International High School in Indianapolis, he has a proven track record of building winning teams with strong character both on and off the court.
Coach Cobb is known for creating innovative training curriculums and individualized development plans that maximize each player’s strengths while addressing areas for growth. His approach has produced measurable results: a 100% graduation rate for his players, an average team GPA of 3.5, and athletes who have earned All-Conference honors. Under his leadership, teams have consistently improved their win percentages year over year.
His coaching philosophy combines technical skill-building, strategic game planning, and a focus on academics. He sets weekly assessment criteria to track progress, runs skill-specific drills to eliminate fundamental flaws, and uses game film analysis to prepare for opponents. By coordinating with strength and conditioning staff, he ensures his players are prepared physically as well as mentally for competition.
Before his current role, Coach Cobb served as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Heritage Christian Middle School (2016–2021) and as an Assistant Coach at Washington High School (2014–2016). His developmental process is informed by his own playing career and long-standing involvement with basketball coaching associations, giving him a wide perspective on the game.
Coach Cobb’s goal is simple: to help athletes grow as players, students, and people while building programs that compete at the highest level.
