International Plaza and Track and Field Enhancements

A new International Plaza will become the heart of campus, seamlessly linking academic buildings and athletic facilities while providing a dynamic, multipurpose space that unites students, families, and visitors. The plaza, designed to serve as a true hub of activity, will connect all of the outdoor spaces on campus and will feature essential amenities, including restrooms, concessions, storage, and a shaded open-air pavilion. A defining feature of the International Plaza will be a 66-foot, 24,000-pound replica of the Eiffel Tower, which was initially constructed to greet visitors for the nine-day U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, the sole qualifier for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The Indiana Sports Corporation selected ISI as the permanent home for Indy's replica Eiffel Tower, and they have generously donated the art piece to ISI. The replica will become a centerpiece of the plaza and serve as a lasting tribute to the importance of internationalism in Indiana. 

As part of this transformative project, the main track and field will be connected to the plaza and upgraded with bleachers, a scoreboard, lighting, and a sound system. These new assets will create an engaging and welcoming environment, enhancing the experience for those using the main track and field and the auxiliary soccer field during both athletic events and community-wide school events like the International Parade and Festival.

Daneri Family Gymnasium Addition

The Daneri Family Gymnasium was built as part of the Lower School construction, but with the intent for future use as the primary venue for ISI volleyball and basketball. To fully realize this vision, an exciting expansion is planned to enhance both the athlete and spectator experience.
This expansion will transform the space, providing the necessary features, amenities, and storage to establish the gym as a home for ISI athletics, fostering school spirit, and supporting our student-athletes at the highest level.

Daneri Family Gymnasium Addition: Athletic Entrance and Lobby

As part of the Daneri Family Gymnasium addition, a dedicated entrance and lobby will be constructed. Accessible from Kosene Way, the new entrance will create a welcoming entrance for fans and athletes. The lobby will include restrooms, concessions, and an entrance into the gym adjacent to the stands, better supporting and enhancing the fan experience. 

Daneri Family Gymnasium Addition: Locker Rooms

As part of the Daneri Family Gymnasium addition, new locker rooms will be constructed for home and visiting teams. The locker rooms will benefit athletes using the gym and be accessible from the exterior fields and courts, benefiting athletes across many sports. 

Blackwell Addition

The Blackwell Building is the original facility constructed on the ISI campus. It is the primary space for Middle School classes, but it serves all Upper School students for Upper School community meetings, athletics programs, after-school activities, club meetings, and more. ISI will build an addition on the northeast corner of the building, constructing a dedicated strength and conditioning space. The expansion also includes athletic offices, storage spaces, and painting the entire facility.

Blackwell Addition: Strength and Conditioning Room

The continued growth of the Upper School is a strategic priority. With more than 70% of Upper School students participating in Athletics at ISI, and current and prospective students' desire for a quality program, ISI plans to create permanent homes for the athletic spaces currently housed in modulars. ISI will construct a dedicated strength and conditioning room to enhance the school's program through IB curriculum enhancements and extracurricular offerings. Access to quality strength and conditioning equipment will allow student-athletes to train effectively, improving their performance in various sports and giving them a competitive edge. 

Tennis Courts

Tennis has been a consistent sport at ISI, but the program takes place off-campus. The construction of six on-campus tennis courts will introduce tennis to students of all grade levels through the physical education curriculum, provide a true home venue for the tennis team, host high school matches and tournaments, and establish a vibrant community space for active engagement. 

Remodeling Original Facilities

Our Upper School facilities have been in use for over two decades without any significant remodel. The spaces will be refreshed with new paint, carpet, furniture, and fixtures so that we can serve our students and the wider public well. 

Roadways, Parking Lots, Pathways, and Water Management

The primary roads and parking lots on ISI’s campus were originally constructed alongside the buildings they serve, and many were not initially designed as permanent roadways. The campus roads have been extended far beyond the 15-to-25-year expected lifespan of an asphalt road. The paving projects at ISI are expected to be extensive, encompassing new surfaces and curbs, repairs to existing concrete and curbs, and milling and repaving of asphalt roadways. Approximately 25% of campus roads are estimated to require full-depth replacement. Additionally, the project will incorporate new stormwater management solutions to minimize runoff from buildings, lawns, and streets, enhancing both durability and sustainability. 

Additionally, refreshed and new walkways are part of the project scope and are viewed as essential to ensuring that all campus spaces are connected and accessible.
