A New World in a Week

Summer camps at ISI have something to offer every student, whether they come from ISI, another school in Indiana, or a city on the other side of the globe. The camps will be held on the beautiful, wooded 65-acre campus on Michigan Road.

From immersive art classes and French and Spanish cooking to sports and cultural experiences and SAT prep (for those in the middle and upper grades), summer camps at ISI provide the chance to play hard, keep learning, and make lifelong friends. It’s a safe and nurturing atmosphere based around ISI’s own philosophies.

EARLY CHILDHOOD LANGUAGE CAMPS

Description: Pre-Elementary students are invited to this relaxing and fun time to create beautiful masterpieces while speaking French. Activities will include crafts, music, cooking and games.

Description: This is an excellent opportunity to learn Chinese language and culture through fun activities and meaningful tasks in an immersion environment. Students will be encouraged to speak Chinese through creative activities (arts and crafts, drawing and painting), physical activities (gardening, dancing and outdoor play) and fun activities (cooking and games).

Description: Storytelling Camp where students will explore the craft of creating and telling stories using language, puppets, and drawings. Students will work independently and in groups to plan, create and share their stories during the week. These stories will then be shared with the parents online. Description: Animal clay Fusion! Create your favorite animals out of clay and glass!  Elephants, turtles, fish, owls and more!  We will have anywhere from 1-3 projects made every day in class.  Every child will do the pottery wheel.  Items will be fired and returned about 4 weeks after camp.

Description: This is comprehensive competitive level chess using the “Creative Play” method of instruction.  This method makes learning the complex game of chess relatively easy. Description: Games have changed tremendously since the days of Monopoly and Risk. From Pokemon to Settlers of Catan, gameplay strategy has taken a huge leap rivaling Chess. Cloud City Youth is offering a modern day strategy games camp for kids. It helps to develop critical thinking skills and supports important social interaction.

Description: Explore Mexican culinary culture through cooking. Students will learn about the history and culture of Mexican food. The basic ingredients used in many dishes and the traditional techniques used in the cocina will be taught. Students will be preparing dishes from scratch using fresh ingredients for the students to enjoy both in the cocina and at home. Full recipes for a variety of dishes will be provided for the campers to apply their culinary skills at home.

Description: This is a course of innovation where children learn and create what the Roboticists of today are learning for tomorrow. The camp follows a scripted course through space that leads them to a robotic alien world. Children learn in teams and build from scratch various robotic projects that will create the setting for our finale. This is a science and engineering robotics class with an art, design, and creative collaboration element that will lead to a short film.

SAT PREPARATION CAMPS

Description: This course aims to help High School students develop a better understanding of SAT exam requirements and become familiar with materials needed for success.  Students will: develop important skills to allow for effective problem-solving specific to the SAT exam, build logical reasoning skills, and discover proper computational steps to problem-solve. Students will practice questions from previous SAT exams.
