Frequently Asked Questions
The By-Laws of the International School of Indiana require the board to lead the search for a new Head Of School. The board has created The Head of School Search Committee which is leading the search process and will make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Craig P. Anderson, an alumni parent and Board Member has been appointed Chair of the Search Committee. The board has retained Littleford and Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in working with independent schools worldwide, to assist with the search.
The Board and the head of School Search Committee will maintain complete confidentiality throughout the process. As the process draws to completion, the Board will review the recommendations of the Search Committee, formally resolve to pursue a candidate, bear responsibility for negotiating any terms of employment, and ultimately appoint the new Head of School.
The Board supports the Search Committee and refers all inquiries related to the search to the Chair of the Search Committee.
The search for the new Head of School will be international in scope. Confidentiality is a critical component for our success. As such, the Search Committee will not comment on candidates participating (or not participating) in our search. Internal candidates will engage in the same process as external candidates.

The Head of School Search Committee is committed to a transparent and inclusive process in selecting our new Head of School. We will balance our goal of keeping the community informed about the search while respecting the confidentiality of the candidates. This web page has been created to serve as the central location for all information and news about the search. All updates will be housed on this page, and notifications of updates will be shared via email and other communication tools as appropriate.
There will be ample opportunity for members of the school community to become involved in the search process by meeting finalist candidates and providing feedback when they visit the school. Prior to that time, interactions with candidates will be limited to the Search Committee to protect the confidentiality of the candidates and thereby, help assure that the International School of Indiana is able to attract the strongest pool of applicants.
Both the Search Committee and the Board are committed to community involvement with the search process. There will be two ways in which the community will be involved in the process.
The first and largest opportunity will be during the week of January 15th when John Littleford will be on campus helping to develop our Parent Ambassador program. As part of that process, he will be meeting with many members of the community and will solicit information from the community that will be used in developing our search process.
The second opportunity will be the creation of both a Parent and Faculty Advisory Committee that will be announced at a later time. Those committees will meet with semi-finalists and provide feedback on each candidate to the Head of School Search Committee. We anticipate those meetings will occur in either the spring or fall depending on the pace of our search process. Each committee will have 5 members appointed by the Head of School Search Committee. The committees will be developed to ensure representation across all grade levels and interest of the International School of Indiana.
