ISI connects languages, cultures, and people from every corner of the world.

International Week serves as our Homecoming, a time to celebrate our past, present, and future, showcase school traditions, and share the diverse and vibrant cultures of our school community.

International Week
September 14 - 20

International Week began at the International School of Indiana in 2019 as our Homecoming Week. In the United States, Homecoming often takes place in September or October, as an important launch to the school year. The earliest Homecoming celebrations centered around a central event, such as a banquet, dance, or sporting event. Today, in the context of American schools, Homecoming celebrations are annual traditions where alumni, students, families, and supporters come together to honor a school’s traditions and history.

ISI calls its Homecoming Week International Week, embracing double meaning, as both a celebration of our school - the International School of Indiana - and the internationalism of our community members. The week culminates with an International Parade and Festival. Students, faculty, and staff walk together in a beautiful display of pride for their culture, carrying flags representing their nation and in attire that represents their home country. The parade is followed by a festival for the school community that serves as an opportunity for families to spend time together and for Lower School students to play games at booths hosted by Upper School students. Traditional activities found as part of a Homecoming are included in the week, including home athletic events, a charity Color Run benefiting Timmy Global Health, spirit days, and a High School Homecoming Dance.
