August brings the annual return to school and, for the first time in school history, all students will be on one unified campus. ISI marks the month with a series of special traditions and important orientation events for students and families.

Parent/Caregiver Orientation
Wednesday, August 3, 5:00-6:00 p.m, Chen Building Cafeteria
All Lower School parents are invited to attend this orientation, where staff members will review logistics for the school day, including drop-off and pick-up flow, lunch schedules, and more. This event is typically reserved for new Lower School parents, but as all families prepare to transition into the Chen Building, all Lower School parents are invited to attend. Parents are asked to attend this event without children given the importance of the information to be shared. Access to classrooms and other areas of the building will be restricted on this day. Parents and students are encouraged to attend the Meet the Teacher and Supply Drop-Off event together, and classrooms will be open on this day.

Students and parents are encouraged to stop by the Chen Building to briefly meet their new teachers, see the new building/individual classrooms, and drop off school supplies. Families who pre-ordered supplies via EduKit by the first deadline will have their supplies waiting for them in their classroom.

Tuesday, August 9, 8:00-8:30 a.m., ISI Campus Track
Students may arrive at school between 7:45-8:00 a.m. The morning drop off carline will not be utilized on the first day of school, though afternoon pick up carline will run normally. Instead, all parents are asked to park in the Chen Building parking lot. Families will then follow the sidewalk path to the ISI Campus Track, located just behind the Chen Building.

Back to School Night and Reception
Wednesday, August 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Chen Building Classrooms and Cafeteria
This event invites ISI parents to meet their child(ren)'s teachers and learn important information about the school year. There will be two 30-minute information sessions from 5:00-5:30 p.m. and 5:30-6:00 p.m., followed by a wine and cheese reception sponsored by the Parent Association. Please note that students are not permitted to attend Back to School Night.
Virtual Parent Tea and Coffee: Adjustment to Lower School and ManageBac Training
Thursday, August 25, 12:00-1:00 p.m., Via Zoom
Parents will first have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the adjustment of starting at a new school. Parents will then receive training in ManageBac, the ISI academic communications platform. Parents will learn about how ManageBac is used to share student progress reports, important project assignments, and more. While this event is crucial for new ISI parents, all parents are welcome to attend.
International Week
September 6-9
International Week returns as a celebration of our diverse and vibrant community! The week-long celebration concludes with an International Festival on Friday, September 9. More details are forthcoming!

Freshman and New Grades 10 to 12 High School Student Orientation
Friday, August 5, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Taurel Building
All new grades 9 to 12 students and all returning grade 9 students are asked to attend this orientation event, which will prepare students for the upcoming school year and provide important details about their transition to the ISI High School. Lunch will be included.
Grade 6 and New Grades 7 and 8 Middle School Student Orientation

All grade 6 students and all new grades 7 and 8 students are asked to attend this orientation event, which will prepare students for the upcoming school year and provide important details about their move to the ISI Middle School.
