Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

7:40 - 8:00 a.m. Upper School Arrival
8:00 - 8:15 a.m. Lower School Arrival
Doors to the Chen Building open at 7:50 a.m. Students must remain supervised by their parent/caretaker in the Front Lobby until arrival begins at 8:00 a.m.
3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Lower School Dismissal
3:35 - 3:45 p.m. Upper School Dismissal

All Upper School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures take place via Carline. 
Lower School families have the ability to utilize Carline and/or In-person Drop off and Pick Up. 

All carlines have green and red zones. 
Students may only enter and exit vehicles in the green zone.

Lower School families are welcome in the Chen Family Lower School for arrival and dismissal. Pre-Elementary families have access to classrooms, but access is restricted to the Lobby for Elementary (Grades 1 - 5) families. Photo ID are required.

All Lower School parents/caretakers will receive parking passes at Lower School Meet the Teacher and Supply Drop Off on August 11. These passes will be utilized during carline and dismissal procedures. Families may request additional passes for other authorized pick-up individuals at Meet the Teacher or throughout the school year by emailing registrar@isind.org. 

Every school year, student drivers must register their vehicle and purchase a new parking pass utilizing the form below. To register a vehicle, a student must provide vehicle information (including license plate, make, model, and color). Once the parking pass registration has been processed, a parking pass will be issued to the student. The cost of a student parking pass each year is $20, which is due with the online form submission. 

All passes are non transferable and parking is not prorated for student drivers who obtain a license later in the semester or school year. 

If a student brings a vehicle to campus other than the vehicles on the registration form, the school must be notified.

Students who are supplying, receiving or displaying improper permits will be subject to discipline.

• The school plaid is the Lands’ End “Clear Blue” plaid. 
• All shirts are to have the school logo on them.
• White, navy, light blue and orange (Lands’ End “Orange Spice”) shirts are an approved option.
• Our official uniform provider is LandsEnd.com, though items that fit the dress code can be found at other retailers. Please check that they are consistent with the items available from our preferred vendors.
• ISI has a custom online store at www.landsend.com/school. Go to the “Find Your School’s Dress Code” in the menu on the page. Our school’s number is 900059023.
• Village Custom Embroidery in Zionsville will add the school logo to items purchased from other local stores. Contact them at 317.733.3110 or www.villagecustomembroidery.com.

Pants/Shorts
Pants or shorts in khaki or navy blue should be proportioned to fit at the waist. Shorts must be no shorter than mid-thigh and must extend to the end of the fingertips of the student when the student’s arms are straight down by his/her side. Jeans are not permitted.

Skirts/Skorts/Jumpers
Style is not restricted, but only one plaid is approved. Skirts or skorts must be no shorter than mid-thigh and must extend to the end of the fingertips of the student when the student’s arms are straight down by his/her side. Jumpers must have the school logo on the left side of the chest. Leggings and tights may be worn under skirts and jumpers as long as they are one solid school color. Prints are not allowed on tights and leggings. Leggings may not be worn alone as pants.

Shirts
Short-sleeved or long-sleeved polo shirts, long-sleeved turtleneck shirts, and button-down collared shirts are acceptable either alone or under sweaters or sweatshirts. All shirts must have the ISI logo on the left side of the chest. ISI branded t-shirts (Gryphon Gear) sold by the school are permitted. No brand marks other than the ISI logo shall be worn. Tank tops, spaghetti straps, and shirts exposing the midriff are not permitted.

Sweaters/Sweatshirts
Sweaters and sweatshirts must bear the ISI logo. Gryphon Gear sweatshirts are acceptable. Non-ISI branded sweaters, jackets, coats and sweatshirts are not permitted except when used at recess or outdoor PE class. Messages and/or brand names on clothes must be respectful, not promoting behaviors or products illegal for minors to participate in or with. Clothing that does not promote a sense of school spirit should not be worn.

Shoes
Footwear should be sturdy and appropriate for the playground and gym class. Sandals may be worn as long as they have a strap across the back. No flip-flops or slippers may be worn at school.

Outerwear
Recess and active play are an important part of a student’s day. Students should be dressed according to the weather. Hats, gloves, coats, and boots should be worn in cold weather for outside play. Students must remain fully clothed, as appropriate, at all times during school activities.

MODIFIED DRESS CODE DAYS

One Wednesday per month is designated as a Modified Dress Code day. On these days, students are allowed to wear clothing that does not conform to the Dress Code, but the restrictions on specific items noted in the Dress Code still apply (for example, no jeans, sweat pants, cargo shorts, spaghetti straps, shirts with slogans). T-shirts must not have advertising, inappropriate language or violent messages. These days will generally coincide with Lower School Spirit Days.

GYM WEAR

Students do not change clothes for physical education classes (gym). Students should wear comfortable uniform gear and gym shoes on days they are scheduled for PE.

HIGH SCHOOL DRESS CODE

Our school philosophy emphasizes individuals who value differences and are concerned for the well-being of others and are committed to demonstrating respect, responsibility, and effort. Our basic dress code is intended to encourage students to live these values in the context of a 3-year old to grade 12 learning environment that is diverse in nature. 

Students in Grades 9-12 do not wear a uniform but clothing must be suitable for all scheduled classroom activities. We will not interfere with the right of students and their parents to make decisions regarding their appearance, except when their choices:

• Present a hazard to the health or safety of the student or to others in the school;
• Interfere with school work;
• Promote behavior unsuitable for an ISI Gryphon, including anything illegal or disruptive
• Prevent the student from achieving their own educational objectives because of blocked vision or restricted movement.

In keeping with the above philosophy, and in order to reduce misunderstanding, inappropriate school wear includes, but is not limited to, the following:
The maintenance of common decency and classroom order requires adequate coverage of the person. Clothes must be worn in a way such that genitals, buttocks, torso and back are fully covered with opaque fabric. ISI is a 3-year old to grade 12 school and high school students are role models for our younger students.

Students Must Wear: 

• A garment (with fabric in the front, back and covering the torso)
• Pants, jeans, skirt, dress or the equivalent (e.g. sweatpants, leggings or shorts)
• Shoes that maintain health and safety, including requirements for special classes such as laboratories and physical education.

There is no list of dress and appearance guidelines for students that can be written that covers or anticipates all potential dress and grooming extremes. To this end, students in the high school cannot wear: 

• Clothing that is see through. 
• Any item that obscures the face (e.g. Hoodies, Caps). Religious head coverings are permitted. 
• Swim/Beachwear
• Clothing which advertises the use of alcohol, drugs, or other substances which, if used by a minor, would be illegal. 
• Clothing which advertises, promotes, suggests inappropriate ideas or behavior not conducive to a positive school climate or is disruptive to the educational functioning of the school. This includes promoting violence, gang affiliation, racially or sexually offensive messages or references. This also includes clothing which advertises, promotes, suggests inappropriate ideas or behavior not conducive to a positive school climate or is disruptive to the educational functioning of the school, via innuendo or double meaning.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION WEAR

• Students in Grades 9-10 are required to change clothing (shirts and shorts) and wear specific athletic shoes during Physical Education class. Students in grades 11 and 12 do not have PE class
• There is not a required gym uniform. However, students should have non-revealing leggings or shorts, t-shirts, and athletic shoes for Physical Education class. 
• If a student does not consistently have the correct change of clothing, the teacher contacts home and records a behavior note. 
• Coming prepared for PE is an important aspect of the class and affects the student effort grade.

DRESS CODE INFRACTIONS

Infractions of the high school dress code will be dealt with in accordance with the Upper School Behavior Management Policy and Guidelines.
 

The ISI Family Portal is currently being refreshed for the 2025-26 school year, and families will receive a new passkey and gain access no later than Friday, August 8. 

Class rosters will be available via the Family Portal no later than Friday, August 8.
