Scope: These required protocols apply to all ISI students.

Policy Statement: Arrival and dismissal procedures have been created to limit risks of community transmission of COVID-19 during arrival and departure times and to provide for the health and safety of our entire campus community.

Reason for Policy:
1. To provide guidance on how arrival and dismissal procedures will be implemented during arrival and departure periods until International School of Indiana is able to return to normal operation in accordance with all public health and governmental orders. 

2. To differentiate instructions based on campus, building, and participation in before/after school programming.

Procedures for Drop Off/Arrival on Campus: 

1. All healthy students will be able to attend in-person classes.

2. Student arrival times are according to the following schedule:

LOWER SCHOOL

  • Drop-off hours have been revised with the car line running from 7:50 - 8:10 a.m.
  • The Lower School reintroduces walk-up drop-off to allow families of Pre-Elementary students the ability to escort students to class and to interact directly with Lower School faculty and staff.
  • The window of time families are permitted in the building has been limited to minimize the risk of individuals becoming close contacts (defined as an individual who has been within six feet for a total of 15 minutes or more) of persons who have COVID-19.
  • Any family entering the facility for drop-off is required to adhere to the Visitor Policy.
  • Use of the carline is permitted for students aged four and up. Students aged three are permitted to use the car line only if they have an older sibling who can assist them.

UPPER SCHOOL

  • Upper School students utilize the car line for arrival. 
  • ISI faculty/staff will greet all students outside of ISI facilities. 
  • Parents will not be permitted to exit their vehicles or enter facilities during arrival, unless pre-approved by a member of the senior leadership team, or as described in this policy.

Morning early entry to Upper School facilities is limited to students registered for Extended Supervision. Extended Supervision students report to the main entrance of their assigned building. See the Child Care and Extended Supervision webpage for fees and registration form.

FACULTY ARRIVAL 

  • Faculty are required to arrive on campus by 7:40 a.m.
  • Faculty with homerooms must be ready to receive students no later than 7:45 a.m.

TARDY STUDENT ARRIVAL

Lower School Students

  • Students arriving after drop-off times must be escorted to the main entrance of the 49th Street building; however, families are not permitted to enter the building.

Upper School Students

  • Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. are considered tardy.
  • Tardy students must use the following entrances:
    • Middle school students arriving after 8:00 am must proceed to the main entrance of the Blackwell building. 
    • High school students arriving after 8:00 am must proceed to the main entrance of the Taurel building. 
  • Students are expected to adhere to all social distancing instructions during the check-in process.

Procedures for Pick Up/Dismissal from Campus

Student dismissal times are staggered according to the following schedule:

LOWER SCHOOL

  • To facilitate a safe and efficient dismissal process the carline is used for dismissal of all lower school students, regardless of age.
  • All Lower School students will remain in their classroom until their assigned dismissal time.
  • Students will be escorted by ISI personnel to the car line, or their assigned child care cohort.
  • Families unable to pick up students by 3:30 p.m. must register for after-school care as no other student supervision will be available after that time.
  • The 49th Street facility closes promptly at 6:00 p.m.

 UPPER SCHOOL CARLINE DISMISSAL

  • Students are dismissed by cohort through their cohort’s assigned exit.
  • Students registered for Extended Supervision or Athletics are dismissed to their registered program or activity.
  • By 3:45 p.m., all students should be at one of the following locations: 
    • Assigned exit for carline/drive home 
      • Parents picking up multiple students must stop at each exit as departing students may only exit through their assigned door
      • High school students riding with siblings are encouraged to meet at the vehicle so social distancing can be observed.
  • Families unable to pick up students by 3:45 p.m. must register for after-school programming. 
  • Student supervision outside of the registered after school programming will not be made available after 3:45 p.m. in the Upper School.

  • Extended Supervision. ends promptly at 6 p.m.

Upper School students are permitted to congregate outside of the building and in the lobby while waiting for siblings/parents, but in accordance with the COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols.
