Season Recap: Varsity Track & Field

The Varsity Track & Field Team had a season defined by a willingness to try new things and a supportive atmosphere among teammates. Between integrating new team members and dealing with injuries, many athletes stepped up throughout the season to find success in new events.

“Coming into the season, my goals were to improve my endurance and stay in shape for the season,” Grade 12 student Evan Cahoon said. “My favorite memory was trying new field events like the long jump for the first time.”

Many athletes tried new events, worked with new relay groups, and pushed themselves to new limits throughout the season. The Gryphons set the tone early that they would put forth their best effort throughout the season.

“Showing up to a huge meet at Park Tudor with 10 invited schools was sure to be intimidating for any athlete, but the Gryphons made quick work of getting in the right headspace to compete,” Coach Justus O’Neil said. “With several scoring times and measurements, our athletes burst through the finish line with undeniable passion after every event.”
