Season Recap: Varsity Swimming & Diving

With many returning athletes, the Varsity Swimming & Diving Team spent their season pushing each other to become better athletes, resulting in a 2nd (Boys) and 3rd (Girls) place finish in the PAAC as well as new individual records placed.

“This season, every swimmer at one point was pushed outside of their comfort zone,” Coach Riley Lohse said. “I noticed time and time again the students would persevere through the challenge - becoming better teammates, better swimmers, but more importantly, better people. Thank you for a successful season!”

Students who placed new records include Grace Kaneshiro (200 Individual Medley, 100 Breaststroke), Will Longfellow (50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke), and the team of Will Longfellow, Vasco McAlear, Konrad Gossweiler, and Eddie Willis (200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay).

“My biggest goals coming into the season were to swim personal bests and qualify in the top eight in individual events at Sectionals,” Senior Grace Kaneshiro said. “My biggest accomplishment this season was breaking two school records and having three finalist finishes at sectionals - including a 9th place finish in 100 Breaststroke and a 7th place finish in 200 Individual Medley.”
