Season Recap: Varsity Soccer
The Varsity Soccer team concluded another great season, competing in many close games and exciting wins. Throughout the fall, the team faced and overcame numerous challenges, focusing on purposeful and proactive play. Many individual players achieved personal milestones throughout the season. From first-time goals to significant improvements in skills, each player found ways to contribute to the team and grow.
“My biggest challenge this season was working on my touch and passing,” Grade 10 player Myles Maddox said. “My goals moving forward are to work more on my stamina.”
Their dedication paid off, as the team delivered strong performances, securing several close wins and outplaying opponents that had previously posed significant challenges. The team’s high-scoring games were a testament to their hard work and strategic play.
“Our main goal this season was to play at a consistent level and our style of the game,” Assistant Coach Heath Vincent said. “We did a good job at that, but we found ourselves in certain games straying away from those ideas. However, we quickly turned things around and continued to fight. When the team was focused on playing our style of game, they could confidently string together multiple wins—they were a great team, would play at a much higher level, and were difficult to beat.”
As the season closes, the team bids farewell to six talented seniors who have left an incredible mark on the ISI soccer program. Despite the loss of these experienced players, there is a sense of optimism as the team anticipates the energy and potential of the incoming freshmen class. The underclassmen are eager to step up and build on what the seniors have left behind, ensuring that the team continues to develop and improve.
With the foundation laid and the lessons learned, the ISI Varsity Soccer team is ready for another exciting chapter next season!
