Season Recap: Middle School Cross Country

The Cross Country team started the season with clear goals: build a strong community and train for endurance. With a mix of new and experienced runners, the team of 12 athletes embraced the season with dedication, running together to push each other’s limits and support one another every step of the way.

Despite a challenging season with unusually warm temperatures, the team showed remarkable perseverance, learning to run in tough conditions. The hard work paid off, with each athlete achieving their personal best by season’s end, showcasing the team’s growing strength, confidence, and resilience.

“It was incredible to see each athlete grow and finish the season with their personal bests,” Coach Lisa White said. “The more we poured into our running, the better the outcome. Our runners grew stronger, confident, and more resilient with each race they completed. It was amazing to observe their growth and the bond they developed by the end of the season.”

The supportive community at ISI made the season even more special, with enthusiastic encouragement from parents and teammates. Grade 8 student Michelle Menya shared her favorite memory: “My favorite memory was the end of the season party with my teammates because it was a fun way to congratulate each other knowing all the hard work we put in.” For Michelle, her biggest accomplishment was achieving a personal record that improved meet after meet.

This Cross Country season showed that success is not just measured in time but in dedication and teamwork. The bond these runners built and the resilience they gained will carry them forward into next year and beyond!
