Season Recap: Middle School Cross Country

This season, the ISI Cross Country team focused on one clear goal: improving each week while developing a genuine love for running. “We faced challenges along the way, from injuries to sweltering heat, but our perseverance never wavered,” Head Coach Phillip Thompson said.

The team’s hard work paid off at the final meet, where every runner pushed themselves to their limit, achieving some of the fastest times of the season. Highlights include:

Teddy White: 12:23 → 11:10
Mana Fausel: 14:37 → 13:37
Cameron White: 15:11 → 13:06
Vedaant Gupta: 17:35 → 14:56
Sebastian Villate: 24:28 → 14:50
Maxwell Schaefer: 14:45 → 14:37
Loulou Vetrini: 17:36 → 15:25

For many athletes, the season was marked by personal milestones. “My biggest goal this season was getting below 15 minutes, and my biggest accomplishment was when I got a 14:56 in the last competition. It was an awesome team and I had a good experience,” Grade 7 student Vedaant Gupta said.

Grade 6 runner Loulou Vetrini added, “My biggest accomplishment this season was beating my old PR by a couple of minutes. Next year, my biggest goal is to try to beat my PR again. I had loads of fun at meets, but not going to lie, it was pretty tiring!”

Looking ahead, Coach Thompson and the team are excited to grow stronger, continue improving, and aim for the top of the IISL in the next season.
