Season Recap: Grade 5 and 6 Soccer

The Grade 5 and 6 Soccer Team wrapped up an exciting and growth-filled season! With many players stepping onto the field for the very first time, the season focused on learning the fundamentals, developing teamwork, and, most importantly, having fun and finding enjoyment in trying something new.

“Most kids were new to soccer, so we wanted them to simply enjoy it and come back next year,” said Coach Medina.

Early in the season, the team faced challenges that went beyond the game itself. “Discipline was definitely a big challenge, kids talking over coaches and each other, and also not really knowing what teamwork is about,” Coach Medina shared. “We had to teach them values like dedication, commitment, and giving their 100%.”

Through patience, effort, and enthusiasm, the players grew together both on and off the field, winning games along the way. For the players, the season was about personal growth as much as it was about wins. “Some of my biggest goals coming into the season were to improve my shooting and to average at least one goal per game,” said Grade 6 player Zameer Kaushik. “The biggest challenge for our team this season was that we had trouble finishing. We improved a ton as a team and had loads of fun!”

Grade 6 player Otto Kaiser echoed that spirit of learning and teamwork. “I wanted to get better and improve my skills and also become a good teammate toward others,” he said. “My biggest challenge this season was adapting to different positions and taking on more of a leadership role. Moving forward, I want to continue to be a good teammate and make an impact on our team.”

From mastering new skills to discovering the joy of teamwork, the Grade 5 and 6 Soccer Team made incredible strides this year. With their positive attitude and growing passion for the sport, the future of ISI soccer looks bright!
