Season Recap: Grade 7 & 8 Boys Basketball

The Grade 7 & 8 Boys Basketball team wrapped up the season with a hard-earned winning streak and a strong second-place finish in the PAAC Tournament, ending the year on a high note. While there were ups and downs along the way, the growth from the first game to the final buzzer was undeniable.

“The season ended on a good note with a run and second-place finish in the PAAC tournament. Some ups and downs for sure with players learning how to mesh on the court, but major improvement was shown throughout the season,” said Coach Kenneth Hart.

Players set ambitious goals at the start of the season and worked hard to achieve them. Grade 7 student Zachary Aikins aimed to make at least one in-game three-pointer and record two double-doubles, milestones that kept him motivated throughout the year. His favorite memory came during the team’s PAAC Tournament run. “When we won the first game in the PAAC Tournament, bringing us to the championship,” he shared.

For Grade 8 student Austin Howerton, the focus was on building team chemistry and elevating his overall performance. “My biggest goal was to implement cohesion within the team,” he said. One standout moment was a dominant all-around performance where he scored 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, tallied 8 steals, and added 4 assists. Looking ahead to high school, Austin has his sights on continued improvement. “My goals moving forward, transitioning into high school, are to be able to dunk and increase shot-making percentage. I also want to refine my layups and strength.”

From individual milestones to team success, this season was defined by resilience, growth, and a commitment to getting better every day.
