Season Recap: Grade 5 & 6 Basketball

The Grade 5 & 6 Basketball season was all about improvement and perseverance. The team set personal goals to refine their ball handling, shooting, and play execution. Along the way, they faced challenges in staying focused and believing in themselves, but they never backed down.

Throughout the season, the student-athletes showed great determination in tough moments—something they’ll carry beyond the game. They grew not only as players but also as individuals, displaying great sportsmanship and teamwork.

“This season was special, seeing their determination to get better each and every day,” said Head Coach Tim Jewell. “I believe if they stick together and continue to have a hunger for the game of basketball, they’ll reach their goal of becoming champions.”

For Grade 5 student Otto Kaiser, leadership was a key focus. “I wanted to be a leader for the team and always be positive so I could help others improve,” he said. “I loved getting to play in the tournament. It was cool getting that experience of having a home crowd, and that win was very cool for our team.”

Teammate Lucas Newkirk, a Grade 5 student, reflected on the team’s growth: “My biggest accomplishment was getting a lot better through the season. Over the season, our team built a great bond.”

With hard work and dedication, this group has laid the foundation for future success—both on and off the court.
