Season Recap: Boys Varsity Tennis

The Boys Varsity Tennis team kicked off the season with high hopes of growth and improvement. With many returning players from the previous year’s successful season, the Gryphons were eager to build on their momentum and refine their skills. The results speak for themselves—the team finished the regular season undefeated!

“The first half of our season didn’t offer much of a challenge to our team,” Coach Haley Bougher said. “Our singles players dropped only a handful of games, making it tough to adapt when we faced stronger competition later on for conference and sectionals.” Despite the early dominance, the team had to adjust as they faced more challenging opponents later in the season.

Junior Léo-Paul Perrin highlighted a key part of the team’s success: mental toughness. “I think besides playing tennis well, I’m happy about my mentality and how I encouraged my teammates,” Perrin shared. “Overall, my mentality got better in long matches, as well as short matches, which is a great accomplishment. I also had better teamwork, as I tried to cheer on my teammates more.”

The team’s hard work and focus weren’t just limited to the court. They also received Academic Team All-State honors, demonstrating their commitment to excellence both athletically and academically.

Looking ahead, the future of the Gryphons is bright. With no seniors graduating and the addition of new talent from incoming High School players, the Boys Varsity Tennis team is poised for continued success in the seasons to come.
