Season Recap: Boys Varsity Soccer
The Boys Varsity Soccer Team had an exciting first season back after a year without competing. The team was able to use the experience of the upperclassmen to help lead the newer players and teach them the basics of the sport. The hard work of each player, paired with the strong team mentality, led ISI to their best record in the past five years.
“This team played as one team,” said Head Coach Justus ‘Neil. “The last three seasons that we have competed, we have had a losing record. But through complete camaraderie, all the way from our freshmen to our seniors, we developed a team that played as one. All the credit for that goes to our players playing as one unified team.”
Coming into the season, Coach O'Neil expected competitiveness, passion, and discipline out of the athletes. These expectations paid off in the final season record and in the growth of the players, especially ones new to the sport, who will continue to play in future seasons.
“My biggest goal coming into the season was to improve as a team and finish the season with a winning record,” Sophomore player Kael Miller said.
The Boys Varsity Soccer Team was able to accomplish this goal, finishing the season 7-4-1.
