Season Recap: Boys Varsity Golf

Fueled by big goals and strong team chemistry, the Boys Varsity Golf team turned this spring season into one of the most successful in school history.

At the start of the season, senior Evan Johnson shared his ambition: “This season I want to make regionals again, and hopefully make it as a full team to regionals. I am looking forward to all of our matches and competing to win the conference. Our team is all very close and we all work very hard to win each match.”

His teammate, senior Peter Machado, echoed that determination: “My biggest goals this season are to return to regionals this year and hopefully make state. We are ready for the season.”

Led by experienced players and driven by a competitive mindset, the team members pushed themselves through early cold-weather practices and challenging courses. Their hard work paid off in a season full of strong finishes and milestone achievements.

One of the standout moments came when Evan Johnson advanced from sectionals to regionals, shooting a 75, setting a new school record. The team also made history by shooting a school-record 328 at sectionals.

With dedication, talent, and a unified team spirit, this year’s Boys Varsity Golf team made their mark on ISI athletics and set a high standard for future seasons.
