Student Culture Trip to Paris 2025

Grade 6 to 11 Students Spend Eight Days Immersing Themselves in the Language, History, and Culture of France

Travel Experiences at ISI

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet and help create a better and more peaceful world. ISI offers students multiple opportunities to expand their learning and cultural understanding with a variety of trips throughout their time at the school.

Students have opportunities to immerse themselves in different cultures, allowing them to broaden their perspectives and foster empathy and understanding toward people from diverse backgrounds. These trips encourage independence and self-reliance as students navigate unfamiliar environments while reinforcing classroom learning and allowing students to explore their passions. Moreover, ISI trips often involve meaningful community service or volunteer work, instilling a sense of social responsibility and global citizenship.

The 2025 Trip

This spring, Grade 6 through 11 students embarked on an unforgettable eight-day journey to Paris, France. The trip was a unique blend of language learning, cultural immersion, historical exploration, and artistic engagement, all set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most iconic cities.

Cultural Discovery
The trip began in the heart of Montmartre, where students explored the charming streets and historic landmarks such as the Sacré Coeur, Place du Tertre, and the famed Moulin Rouge. A welcome dinner in Montmartre will set the tone for a week filled with rich cultural encounters.

Language and Learning
Each day included a conversational French language class designed to build confidence and communication skills. Students used their new skills as they navigated the city, participated in workshops, and engaged with locals.

Trip Highlights

Parisian Icons and History

During the trip, students ascended the Eiffel Tower, enjoyed a scenic Seine River cruise, and embarked on a treasure hunt on Île de la Cité. The day concluded with dinner in the Latin Quarter. They also visited the Louvre and took part in a scavenger hunt that helped them engage with the museum’s world-famous collections.

French Culture and Daily Life

Students visited the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte for an etiquette workshop and later enjoyed a special homemade dinner with a local French family. They also explored Montmartre, including stops at the Sacré Coeur and the Moulin Rouge, gaining insight into the Parisian lifestyle and traditions.

Gastronomy and the French Table

A guided foodie tour through a local neighborhood introduced students to the flavors of French cuisine. They also participated in a hands-on cooking class where they prepared and shared a meal together, deepening their appreciation for French culinary traditions.

The Arts Come Alive

Students brought language and creativity together through a theatre workshop and attended a live performance - en français! Their cultural experience was enriched by exposure to both contemporary and classical elements of French art and performance.

This cultural experience will challenge students to grow as global citizens, deepen their appreciation for the French language and way of life, and return home with new perspectives and lifelong memories.
