International Week 2022 Recap

International Week is back! This year, the International School of Indiana (ISI) hosted International Week for the first time since 2019. With the newly unified Michigan Road campus, the event was able to be bigger than ever with new opportunities for the ISI community to connect and celebrate the diversity among the students, families, faculty, and staff.

Lower School students celebrated the culture and heritage of each language tracks (French, Mandarin, and Spanish) throughout the week by wearing cultural and patriotic clothing. Upper School students celebrated a variety of spirit days and events, as International Week also acted as a traditional Homecoming Week. Students were encouraged to support different athletic teams’ homecoming games, supported the Timmy Club’s Color Run, and attended the Glo-Co Neon Homecoming Dance at the end of the week.

The main event of International Week was the International Parade & Festival, hosted on Friday afternoon. Carrying flags representing their nation and in attire that represents their home country, students, faculty and staff walked together in a beautiful display of pride for their culture. Over 80 countries were represented by the ISI community!

Immediately following the International Parade, the International Festival began. Families enjoyed a variety of carnival-style games, a Cake Bake Off, bounce house, and more! This year, Upper School clubs hosted game and activity booths. For $1 Lower School students could participate in games and activities like Can Knock-Down, Bag Toss, and Glitter Tattoos. The Eco Panel, Timmy Club and Chinese Culture Cubs had the top booths, and collectively the Upper School clubs raised over $1,000 through their booths.

The Parent Association hosted a number of booths including the return of the Cake Bake Off. Congratulations to the winners of the Parent Association Cake Bake Off - Heather Woods for Best Decorated and Sheena Love for Best Tasting!

Thank you to our community for your support of such an exciting event, and to all of the volunteers who made the return of International Week a success!
