International School of Indiana Launches ONE Future

The International School of Indiana (ISI) has publicly launched its third capital campaign in the school’s 31-year history, ONE Future–a transformative effort that celebrates ISI’s remarkable journey and charts a bold course for its future.

Inspired by recent fundraising success and guided by a campus master plan, ISI has spent the past year quietly partnering with a dedicated group of lead donors and campaign co-chairs, Allison & Stanley Chen and Kylee & Jack Hope, to bring the campus vision to life. Thanks to their generosity and a recently secured grant funding from Lilly Endowment Inc. through its Marion County K-12 Private Schools Initiative, ISI is ready to take the next step and publicly launch a transformative capital campaign that will allow ISI to boldly shape its future and strengthen its community for generations to come.

In partnership with the campaign co-chairs, ISI announced it raised $12.1 million of the $14 million campaign goal during its silent phase, with approximately $6 million of its funding from individuals, including three lead gifts of over $1 million from the Chen family, Patricio and Kelly Daneri, and an anonymous donor.

“This is more than a fundraising campaign. It’s a commitment to ISI’s next chapter— a chapter that builds on 30 years of excellence and ensures that future students continue to benefit from the rich, global education our children have received,” the campaign co-chairs said.

International School of Indiana was founded in 1994 by civic, state, and business leaders. By combining a rigorous academic program, the International Baccalaureate, with two powerful tools for future success–fluency in a foreign language and multicultural education, ISI offers a distinct education that develops students who are prepared for the challenges of our interconnected world.

The ONE Future campaign will support three separate initiatives essential to the continued success of ISI: establishing the school’s first-ever endowment, investing in Upper School academic and athletic programs, and funding remodeling projects and new facilities that will enhance the Upper School experience.

“Four years ago, through the ONE ISI campaign, we unified our campus with the construction of the Chen Family Lower School and Daneri Family Gymnasium,” Head of School Elizabeth Head said. “We’ve made significant investments in our Lower School, but when families choose ISI, they aren’t just choosing it for the Lower School experience; they are choosing it for the Pre-Elementary through Grade 12 experience. We’ve been challenged to improve the Upper School experience, making it stronger for current and prospective students.”

“What has always set ISI apart is its unique ability to prepare students for more than just academic success,” the campaign co-chairs said. “It builds a foundation of language, perspective, and international awareness that shapes how our children see themselves and their place in the world. We believe deeply in this mission, and this campaign is a crucial step in ensuring it continues for generations to come.”

The public launch of the ONE Future campaign and its early success were celebrated on January 13 in the Daneri Family Gymnasium alongside ISI students, families, faculty and staff, and community supporters. The campaign cabinet was on stage at the event: Head of School Elizabeth Head, Board President Alonzo Weems, Scott Weaver, and campaign co-chairs Stanley and Allison Chen and Kylee and Jack Hope, who shared inspiring words on the campaign’s success in its silent phase and the importance of community involvement to reach the final goal.

"As you look through the ONE Future donors, one of the things I hope jumps out is that it's such a variety across the timeline of the school," Stan Chen shared. "You see families with very young children at ISI, some with older children at ISI, and you see a number of families who no longer have children at ISI and have, in some sense, long departed in being an active part from a school community standpoint, but are still very much embedded in our community and believe in what we're doing."

The School has partnered with architects Schmidt Associates for the construction projects and aims to complete all projects by Spring 2028.
