Global Seal of Biliteracy

High School Students Receive Global Seal of Biliteracy

This morning, the ISI community celebrated a proud moment as over 70 ISI High School students were recognized with the Global Seal of Biliteracy, a prestigious international credential celebrating mastery of two or more languages.

At ISI, language learning is at the heart of our mission, and these awards highlight the real-world value of our students’ hard work. The Global Seal of Biliteracy not only honors their proficiency but also provides them with a credential that opens doors to future opportunities. From advanced placement in university courses to scholarships and job advantages, this recognition has a lasting impact well beyond the classroom.

Employers worldwide can quickly validate language credentials through the Global Seal, confident that recipients possess not only strong communication skills but also the adaptability, cultural awareness, and problem-solving abilities that come with language learning. Students can add the serial-numbered credential to their resumes and LinkedIn profiles under Licenses & Certifications, a standout addition for college applications and future careers.

At ISI, students demonstrate their language proficiency through multiple assessments. Most commonly, they take the Avant STAMP test in French, Mandarin, or Spanish each spring. Some also pursue Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams, all of which can qualify them for the Seal. This year, we are expanding opportunities by offering optional STAMP assessments for students in Grades 11 and 12 who wish to pursue the credential.

Recognition is available at different levels:

Functional Fluency beginning in Grade 8
Working Fluency starting in Grade 11
State Certificate of Multilingual Proficiency, awarded at the end of Grade 12 for qualifying students.

Last year, 100% of Grade 12 students who pursued the state certificate earned it; an incredible achievement that demonstrates the strength of ISI’s language program.

Congratulations to all of our recipients - your multilingual skills are a gift that will serve you for a lifetime!
