Grade 7 and 8 Soccer Season Recap

The Grade 7 and 8 Soccer team wrapped up an incredible season defined by growth, resilience, and teamwork. Building on the principles of spacing and communication established last year, the team added a new focus on shooting, and the results showed. Despite facing multiple season-ending injuries that tested their depth, the Gryphons powered through to finish with a winning record and claim the PAAC Conference Championship trophy.

“This season, the 7th/8th grade team had the goal of building on the principles we established from last year: spacing and communication,” Head Coach Peter Ntala said. “Additionally, we wanted to emphasize shooting, and throughout the season, I have seen the players come together, grow, and execute to a wonderful level. In spite of the fact that we had numerous season-ending injuries that hurt our roster number, we not only finished with a winning season but also brought home a trophy. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I am both extremely proud and happy of the way we played this year, and I’m already looking forward to seeing how each of my players grows next year in their soccer development.”

The Gryphons showed grit and consistency all season long, advancing to the IISL Semifinals and winning the PAAC Tournament Championship, defeating the same rival team for the third time in one season. The final match was a showcase of composure and teamwork. Behind excellent goalkeeping from Zach Aikins, the Gryphons created scoring opportunities until Teddy Chesterfield capitalized on a rebound from a shot by Beckett Garry, sealing the victory and the championship title.

For the players, the season was as rewarding personally as it was competitively:

“My biggest goal this season was scoring and helping lead the team, although my time was cut short by injury. My favorite memory was being there to see the team win a trophy,” Grade 8 player Beau Stableford said. “My goals for next year are getting back into playing after my injury, joining the high school squad, and hopefully earning some playing time.”

“My biggest goal coming into the 2025 season was to grow the foundation for what I hope to be the golden years of ISI soccer. My biggest accomplishment this season was having the most assists on the team,” Grade 8 player Caden Calarco shared. “My goal moving forward is to be part of the ever-growing superpower ISI soccer is becoming.”

"Moving forward, I am going with the hopes of bringing the Varsity team to State Finals," said Grade 8 player Beckett Garry. "I hope the school knows we will be bringing home some titles. We proved ourselves to anyone and everyone who doesn't think we can play at the highest level. Champion of PAAC, and much more to come in 2026."

From dominant performances to hard-fought wins, the Gryphons demonstrated incredible teamwork and perseverance. This championship season not only marks a major achievement but also sets the stage for an exciting future in ISI soccer.
