This week, a group of ISI Grade 11 students delivered the coats collected during the all-school Coats for Kids drive, a project they planned and carried out as part of their Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) program. The drive supports the Salvation Army Coats for Kids Campaign, helping local families in need stay warm this winter.

The CAS Project Team wrapped up their service work with a day of hands-on volunteering at the State Fairgrounds, assisting the Salvation Army with coat distribution. Leaders from the organization noted that they had never seen such a well-prepared group—something our students can take pride in! Joining the team were Katya’s father and Sara’s mother, who lent a helping hand.

Throughout the project, students demonstrated excellent collaboration and dedication. They organized and promoted the drive within the ISI community, coordinated cleaning and preparation of the coats, and spent the day ensuring the coats reached those who needed them most. Special thanks to Jia, Luka, Katya, and Sara for their outstanding effort and leadership.

Together, the ISI community collected:

  • 247 coats
  • 74 hats
  • 30 pairs of gloves/mittens
  • 30 scarves

This initiative not only provided essential winter items to those in need but also showcased the impact students can have when creativity, service, and teamwork come together.
