Community Invited to Watch Indianapolis' Replica Eiffel Tower Rise at Its Permanent Home

INDIANAPOLIS — One of the most recognizable symbols of Indianapolis' historic 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming is returning to the skyline, this time for good.

The International School of Indiana (ISI) invites the community to watch the final sections of the iconic replica Eiffel Tower be lifted into place at its permanent home on the school's Michigan Road campus. Visitors are welcome to witness the installation as the tower reaches its full installed height of 70 feet.

The public installation event will take place on Wednesday, July 22, from noon to 2:00 p.m., with the final pieces of the tower scheduled to be placed at the top during the event.

Many Indianapolis residents remember the 66-foot, 14,000-pound steel replica Eiffel Tower that stood on Georgia Street during the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming presented by Lilly. Built at approximately one-sixteenth the size of the famous Paris landmark, the installation celebrated the connection between the Indianapolis-hosted Olympic Trials and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The landmark quickly became a favorite destination for visitors, drawing thousands of people downtown, including some who were not attending the swim trials.

After the event concluded, community members wondered what would become of the structure. In April of 2025, Indiana Sports Corp announced that the International School of Indiana would become the tower's permanent home, preserving an enduring symbol of one of Indianapolis' most celebrated sporting events.

Originally constructed through a partnership between Indiana Sports Corp, F.A. Wilhelm Construction, and the Latinas Welding Guild, the tower represented an extraordinary community effort involving more than 100 individuals from six Indianapolis businesses. Its reconstruction has required a similarly collaborative approach, with Schmidt Associates, JQOL Global, Gilliatte General Contractors, and numerous partners working together to prepare the landmark for its new home.
