Scholarships and Awards

The Class of 2025 has not only gained acceptance to top colleges but has also earned significant merit scholarships and awards, recognizing their exceptional talents:

Overall Scholarships: The Class of 2025 earned a combined $5.6 million in merit scholarships and awards, averaging $225,754 per student.

Gates Scholarship: Launched in 2017, the Gates Scholarship continues the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s mission to support exceptional students by removing financial barriers to college. With fewer than 1% of applicants selected annually, it is one of the most competitive scholarships in the country. Only 300 student leaders nationwide are chosen each year, earning full funding to attend a four-year U.S. college or university. This year, ISI senior Isabel Kim became our first Gates Scholar. She will attend the University of Michigan to study Nursing. Congratulations, Isabel!

College Board National Recognition Program: Awards academic honors to high-performing underrepresented students. This National program recognizes the achievements of students across the country, based on exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQT standardized exam in Grade 11. Recipients are among the highest-achieving high school students in the country, and as a result, many colleges are eager to recruit them. ISI has two students in the senior class who are being recognized for this award:

  • Kennedi Green: National African American Recognition Program. Kennedi will attend Howard University and major in African Studies and Secondary Education.
  • Isabel Kim: National First-Generation Recognition Program. Isabel will attend the University of Michigan, majoring in Nursing.

Next Grad Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a senior student who has demonstrated leadership and motivation throughout the college application process. Makoto Buroku was selected to receive this scholarship and will be attending Waseda University in Japan.

Looking Ahead

As the Class of 2025 prepares to embark on their next chapter, their accomplishments stand as a source of inspiration for future students. Their journey is a powerful reminder that with hard work, perseverance, and a passion for learning, anything is possible. The entire school community is immensely proud of these students and eagerly anticipates the positive impact they will continue to make in the world.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025! Your achievements are just the beginning of an incredible journey. We can't wait to see what the future holds for each of you.

At ISI, students follow a comprehensive IB continuum from their earliest years through graduation. This means that every student engages in an inquiry-driven, skills-focused approach to learning that encourages independence, reflection, and real-world application. The Personal Project, completed in Grade 10, brings these priorities to life in a meaningful and highly personal way.
