Athletics Recap - April 20th to 26th

It was another full week of competition for the Gryphons, with our teams showing focus, grit, and school pride across every game and match. Here’s a look at the results from this week in ISI Athletics.

Student Athlete of the Week | Jules Dassonville | Boys Varsity Volleyball
Jules has been consistently staying cool, calm, and collected during high-pressure situations. No matter the challenge, Jules handles stressful moments with confidence, composure, and a positive attitude, never letting the pressure affect performance. His ability to remain focused and steady has been a huge asset to the volleyball team and sets a great example for others. On top of that, huge kudos for all the incredible ace serves, they have made such a strong impact and helped drive success. Thank you for your leadership, resilience, and outstanding effort!

4/21 | Boys Varsity Golf @ Secina Memorial High School
The Boys Varsity Golf team competed last night at Pleasant Run against Scecina, continuing to build experience and momentum as the season progresses. The team was led by Carson with a 48, followed by Vasav (50), Rémi (52), and Lucas (54), rounding out a solid showing in challenging conditions. Johnny and Nirav each added scores of 67 to complete the lineup.

A special shoutout to Johnny for a standout moment—sinking his first par of the season on a par 3! The team looks forward to carrying this progress into their next match.

4/21 | Boys Varsity Volleyball vs Shortridge High School | 17-25, 23-25, 18-25
The Gryphons lost in a close match to Indianapolis Shortridge, but they’re ready to bounce back as they take on University in their upcoming match on Tuesday, April 28th!

4/22 | Girls Varsity Tennis vs Pike High School | 1-4
The Gryphons faced another tough Pike squad, with all three singles players battling through long, hard-fought matches. The doubles teams gained valuable experience against an opponent known for its aggressive style of play. Lilliana Sanchez delivered a standout performance at No. 3 singles, rallying after dropping the first set to secure a victory in a third-set tiebreak.

4/23 | Girls Varsity Tennis vs Herron High School | 2-3
The Gryphons dropped a hard-fought 2–3 match to a well-matched Herron team. Lilliana Sanchez cruised to a straight-sets victory at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles, Amalia and Catrina Cristea battled through a nail-biting match to secure the second win, 6–4, 6–7, 6–4.
