Host the Adventure of a Lifetime

The International School of Indiana offers high school students from around the world the opportunity for a world-class education in an American cultural setting. Students learn to speak perfect English, graduate with the internationally respected IB diploma, and make friendships that extend far beyond the high school years.

Many of our host families have students currently attending ISI. These families and their children benefit from a deep and personal connection to the language and culture of the exchange student. At the same time, the exchange student has the benefit of the host family’s experience with the school, its staff, and fellow students and families. On occasion, children of our host families have even spent time visiting the home countries and families of their exchange sibling.

WhyISI-buttonExchange students reside with host families during the school year, returning to their home families during the summer and over breaks if necessary or desired. ISI pays a hosting stipend to families to offset related costs.

Ideally, a student will remain with the same host family throughout their time at ISI, but the Admissions Office works with both exchange students and host families to ensure the most positive experience possible for all concerned.

A Rewarding and Safe Experience

ISI works hard to ensure a welcoming and safe experience for exchange students and host families alike. The physical environment of the home is accounted for as well. Our admissions staff will conduct a home visit, see the actual room that the student will occupy, and ensure that the home is safe, clean, and inviting. A full criminal background check is conducted on host families to ensure exchange student safety.

Full Support from ISI

Host and exchange student families receive full support from ISI staff, including an international student advisor for cultural and logistical issues and a separate international academic advisor to ensure that international students are on track with their schoolwork.

Families are fully trained and supported in their roles through pre-host training and orientation sessions, a handbook, and quarterly support meetings.

Get Involved

While ISI families are our very first choice to serve as exchange student hosts, any family interested in sharing the adventure of student exchange is welcome and wanted.

If you are interested in hosting an ISI exchange student, or if you would like more information, contact Natalie Wolfe at ISI Admissions.
