Welcome to ISI

The International School of Indiana (ISI) is a vibrant, inclusive learning community that offers students from 3 years old through Grade 12 an experience they won’t find anywhere else: a dynamic framework for understanding other cultures and perspectives.
We are proud to be the only Indiana school offering the globally recognized, full-continuum International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to all students, and the only Indiana school offering immersion and dual language programs in French, Mandarin, Spanish, and English.

Inquirers

We nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.

Knowledgeable

We develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. We engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.

Thinkers

We use critical and creative thinking skills to analyze and take responsible action on complex problems. We exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions.

Communicators

We express ourselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways. We collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.

Open-Minded

We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.

Principled

We act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences.

Caring

We show empathy, compassion, and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us.

Balanced

We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live.

Risk-takers

We approach uncertainty with forethought and determination; we work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies. We are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.

Reflective

We thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experiences. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses in order to support our learning and personal development.

what makes an ib student?

Every ISI student arrives on our campus with a story of their own. Our students, age 3 through Grade 12, have unique backgrounds, ambitions, and interests, but they also have much in common. All ISI students and community members are committed to the IB Learner Profile, which allows them to garner respect for themselves, others, and the world around them.

If this sounds like you, you’re ready to be an International Gryphon.

IB CURRICULUM

The International Baccalaureate (IB) programs aim to do more than other curricula. IB programs develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The IB gives students distinct advantages by building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems.

Language learning

Our emphasis on bilingual education and language immersion is a big part of why ISI offers the Midwest's most distinct academics. Research shows bilingual learning is both natural and beneficial and bilingual people tend to use their brains more efficiently than those who speak only one language. Bilingual learners ultimately become more independent, creative, and flexible in everything they take on.
