Private High School in Indianapolis - The International School of Indiana

A World-Class Private High School, Right Here in Indianapolis

ISI High School combines the best aspects of a private high school with the advantages of a four-year International Baccalaureate program. It’s a challenging, multicultural program with small class sizes and a community atmosphere. ISI understands that high achievement must be balanced with creativity, fun, and self-reflection.

ISI High School accepts students in any year up through Grade 11 (but not in Grade 12, because the IB diploma cannot be completed in just one year). Though we are a language-rich school with an international focus, students do not need to speak a foreign language to attend. Our language specialists can give individualized attention to high school students who need it, in order to accelerate their language learning.

Connecting to the Future and the World

ISI high school is based around exploration. Grade 9 and 10 students will be in the final two years of the IB Middle Years Programme. In Grade 10, our students conduct a year-long Personal Project on a topic of their choice. At the end of the project year, students present their findings to their peers, teachers, and families.

WhyISI-buttonStudents prepare for the challenge of the Grade 11-12 diploma program by solving problems, thinking critically, planning and conducting investigations, and participating in organized debate. Like all ISI students, they stretch themselves intellectually by making connections between their studies and the world.

In Grades 11 and 12, students put that preparation to work for their IB diploma. The IB diploma thoroughly prepares them to succeed at the college or university of their choice – and 100% of our graduates go on to attend college.

International Opportunities

The high school years are a time of great adventure for our students. In Grades 9 and 10, all ISI students spend at least a week on a student exchange trip to a country where their target (or second) language of study is spoken. Students whose second language is French, for example, may visit the province of Quebec, in Canada. Many students travel to France. Other students have traveled to Mexico, Costa Rica, Barcelona, and even China.

Hands-On Experience

Even while they’re back on Indiana soil, ISI high school students are broadening their horizons. They are getting hands-on exploration in our science labs, exploring their communities and themselves through the Creativity, Activity, Service program, or learning to balance individual and group efforts in school projects or on the athletic field.

Classes at ISI

The student-faculty ratio for the high school is around 9:1. High school classes are small, typically having between 12 and 16 students.

Classes for Grades 9 through 12 meet in the Taurel Building on our Michigan Road campus.
