A Time of Transformation

WhyISI-buttonUpper school marks a period of extraordinary growth and transition for our students. They enter Grade 6 as children. By the time they graduate, they will be newly formed adults.

The Upper School provides a culturally rich and intellectually stimulating environment for this journey. Our students learn through exploration, discussion, and presentation, independent and group investigations, and through adventures in world travel that are truly transformative experiences.

The Upper School Curriculum

The IB Middle Years Programme is used for students in Grades 6 through 10. It has a strong international emphasis that supports a spirit of world citizenship. It helps our students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make a difference in a more connected global culture.

The IB Diploma Programme is completed in Grades 11 and 12. ISI has one of the strongest such programs in the nation. IB diploma students make connections across subject areas, explore the theory of knowledge, and study an array of courses across six subject groups.

Outstanding Preparation in Science and Technology

Science, math, and technology are taught through hands-on study in our laboratory classrooms. Instructors for our science courses are science specialists. By grades 8-10, students have up to three separate classes per week in biology, chemistry, and physics, all taught by specialist instructors.

By the end of Grade 10, ISI students have met the science requirement of the Indiana Core 40 with Academic Honors. They will exceed the state science requirement by four credits after the completion of their IB diploma science requirement, making them exceptionally prepared for college study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and pre-med.
