Two Years of ONE ISI

This week, the ISI community celebrates a very exciting anniversary: Two years since the public launch of the ONE ISI campaign! While the past two years have been full of unexpected hurdles, our community came together to support the campaign to unify our campus with the construction of a new lower school building. To celebrate this anniversary, take a look back at all the ISI community has accomplished, and what is still to come!

Launch

The ONE ISI campaign was publicly launched September 17, 2019 during Wine & Cheese Night in the Deer Zink Pavilion at Newfields. Led by campaign co-chairs Doug Brown and David Kosene, the campaign was kicked off with $5M in early donations, including a lead gift from the Chen Family. Groundbreaking

In a livestream event on October 23, 2020, the ISI community across the world joined together to mark the beginning of construction on the new Chen Family Lower School. The livestream experience included a groundbreaking ceremony on the site of the new lower school, during which Board of Directors President Scott Weaver, ONE ISI campaign lead donors Allison and Stanley Chen, and ISI Head of School Elizabeth Head addressed the ISI community

Slide-a-Thon

When Lower School students were told about the new slide in the lobby of the new building, the students ages 3 through Grade 5 pledged a combined $75,000 to support the exciting addition to the school. Students created personal fundraisers which raised over $25,000. During the Spring semester of 2020, students participated in Slide-a-Thon raising an additional $20,000 - with 100% participation!

Construction

With almost a year of construction completed, the Chen Family Lower School has come a long way since the groundbreaking. Previous updates from Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 are also available. Over the past month, we have seen the drywall go up, interior windows installed, and walls painted. This week, designers have begun to install the built-in storage units inside each classroom! The playground has also been laid out so the playgrounds and multicourt can be installed later this fall.

Thanks to the shared commitment and generous contributions of ISI families, friends, and partners, ISI will be ONE International School ready for students and the world stage beginning summer 2022. Keep an eye out for more exciting developments through the rest of the year!

There is still time to Build ONE ISI with us!

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team had an exciting first season back after a year without competing. The team was able to use the experience of the upperclassmen to help lead the newer players and teach them the basics of the sport. The hard work of each player, paired with the strong team mentality, led ISI to their best record in the past five years, which is 7-4-1.
