Season Recap: Middle School Track & Field

The Middle School Track & Field team completed a season filled with a focus on achieving their personal goals, growing as a community, and trying new things.

“We challenged the team to see the team like a family and support each other in competition,” Head Coach Nathan Gardiner said. “We wanted the athletes to understand that, although winning is nice, and it is great to receive a first place ribbon or medal, winning does not equal success. Athletes were challenged to reach their own personal success. They wrote down goals at the beginning of the year with a challenge to reach those goals.”

Throughout the course of the season, all athletes on the team improved and reached new personal bests in their events. As athletes grew and figured out their new frames, they wanted to mainly focus on the form of each event. This allowed them to understand the mechanics of the events they participated in and, ultimately, grow into stronger competitors.

Lastly, athletes were all challenged to go outside of their comfort zones and try new events and push themselves to learn new skills. Many students tried different events for the first time ever, and everyone showed improvement throughout the season.
