High School Boys Varsity Tennis Season Recap

Last week, the High School Boys Tennis team wrapped up their Fall 2021 Season. With last year's Fall season being canceled due to COVID-19 safety protocols, this was the first time the Tennis team was set to compete in over two years. Throughout the season, students were able to show huge improvements as they got used to playing again after so long without a match.

“My favorite memory from the fall was my last game of the season,” Senior Freddie Antibus said. “It was where I put on my best performance.”

With a mixture of brand new players and experienced players who had not competed in two years, the 2021 season was full of challenges.

“We knew this season was going to be especially challenging after coming off of a no-match season last year. Our schedule is challenging and most of our team hasn't played a match since the 2019 season. Our goal was to be competitive with some of the smaller schools that we had played against in the past such as Beech Grove, Indianapolis Lutheran, and Scecina,” Head Coach Haley Bougher said.

ISI athletes stepped up to the challenge, winning the matches against Beech Grove High School (4-1) and Indianapolis Lutheran High School (5-0). The Boys Tennis team finished their season with a record of 5-5.

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team had an exciting first season back after a year without competing. The team was able to use the experience of the upperclassmen to help lead the newer players and teach them the basics of the sport. The hard work of each player, paired with the strong team mentality, led ISI to their best record in the past five years, which is 7-4-1.
