Announcing the 2018-2019 Board of Directors

Posted by

Today the International School of Indiana’s (ISI) governing board will gather for the first of its regularly scheduled meetings of the 2018-2019 term. Scott Weaver, SAW Capital LLC, has been named President of the Board of Directors. He will replace Constance Brown, who as immediate past president will remain a member of the Board.

Weaver was appointed to the Board in July 2016 and has served as Vice President for Development and Enrollment since 2017, as well as serving as a member of the Campaign Feasibility Committee and Chair of the Campaign Planning Committee. Weaver is an ISI parent and grandparent.

Joining Mr. Weaver in leadership positions on the Board of Directors are First Vice President and Vice President of Finance/Treasurer Katy Blomeke (ISI Parent), Vice President Development/Enrollment Julie Moyer (ISI Parent), and Secretary Alonzo Weems (ISI Parent).

Returning board members include Daniel Becker, Daphne Chiu, Scot Edson, Sunny Lu Williams, Brian Paras, and Donald Smith. New to the Board are Parent Association representative Bill Gruen, ISI parent Amy Willis, and the first ISI alum to serve on the board Lee Thomas ‘08. See the full board listing here.

Over the School’s 25-year history, 14 graduating classes totaling more than 400 graduates have left the school prepared to be responsible citizens and effective leaders. “It is fitting that we are welcoming the first of those leaders onto the board during the school’s 25th anniversary year,” said Weaver. “Lee is a tangible example of our ability to fulfill our mission, and her perspective will add a new and needed dimension to the board’s ongoing mission and strategic planning.”

“ISI has a community of alumni that are drawn together by their passion to experience the world and to make meaningful contributions to their communities both locally and globally. Every student who has walked through our doors is united by the unique culture pioneered by a small group of students and their families established just 25 years ago. Each alum brings that culture forward in all that they do, and I’m excited by the opportunity to join the ISI board and bring their voice back to our incredible narrative of One International,” said Thomas.

The board’s term of service coincides with the school’s 25th anniversary year and initiatives to strengthen ISI so it is poised for success in the next 25 years. During their tenure, this board will welcome new head of school Elizabeth Head. They will work closely with Ms. Head to maintain the school’s strong academic success, realize the vision of a unified school on the Michigan Road campus through a fundraising campaign for a new lower school facility, continue recruitment of faculty from around the world, increase enrollment in both the Lower and Upper Schools, and elevate the school’s brand in central Indiana.

“Our board is fortunate to benefit from the talents of community leaders, parents and now an alumna,” said Craig P. Anderson, Interim Head of School. “Their dedication to providing a world-class education that prepares students for effective global citizenship is unwavering as is their commitment to ensuring that like our students, ISI is ever ready for the world stage.”
