I’m excited to provide you with the latest update on the progress of our search for a new Head of School. As I have mentioned in previous updates, we, the Head of School Search Committee, are working diligently to fill this important role. The Search Committee has narrowed down the applicants to two candidates who will be making final visits to the school over the next few weeks. We hope to move quickly from these visits to making a recommendation to the International School Board of Directors on the candidate we believe is best positioned to lead the International School of Indiana into our very bright future.
A key part of both finalists’ visits will be meeting with both our Parent and Faculty/Staff Advisory Committees. These committees will represent their respective constituencies in their review of the candidates and will provide the Search Committee with their feedback. These committees will continue the work that was started when members of our parent, faculty and staff committees met with our search consultant, John Littleford, back in January to provide their thoughts and insights on what we should look for in our new Head of School.
The Parent Advisory Committee is comprised of Janet McCaslin (current co-leader of our Parent Ambassador program and parent of Spanish Lower School and Middle School students), Craig Caldwell (former member of the Academic Committee of the Board and parent of Spanish track Middle and High School students), Marcelo Hoffman (parent of a Lower School French student), Veronica Lei (parent of a Lower School Mandarin student), and Caroline Abeleda (parent of Middle and High School Spanish students).
The Faculty/Staff Advisory Committee is composed of Kelli Cobb (Assistant Principal at the Middle School), Nella Means (Pre-elementary Coordinator and Assistant Principal at the Lower School), Faustin N’tala (Grade 2 French teacher), Angie Roberts (Upper School Librarian), and Yelena Sinitsky (head of Math Department at the Upper School).
The Head of School Search Committee has made strong progress and is confident that we are bringing forward two excellent finalists. At the advice of our consultant, and in the interest of getting the best candidates, we continue to respect the confidentiality of the candidates as we move through the search process. We have been as transparent as possible in moving through the process but it does require discretion.
I want to thank all of you for your support in our effort and the trust that has been placed in us. I especially want to thank the Search Committee and the Parent and Faculty/Staff Advisory Committees for the important work they are doing.
Craig Anderson, Chair – Head of School Search Committee
