It has been another exciting fall in the College Counseling Office at ISI. We have welcomed many admission representatives so far this year, with more visits scheduled in upcoming weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity for admission professionals to see ISI, meet with students, answer questions, and update the college counselors on current happenings at their colleges and universities. These visits offer opportunities to strengthen the relationship between ISI and various colleges. We are proud that ISI is a priority stop for representatives from many highly selective colleges, including Notre Dame, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Swarthmore, and Carnegie Mellon. We have enjoyed the positive feedback the representatives have shared regarding their impressions of our students. They clearly recognize the value of the IB Diploma from ISI, which is a distinct advantage for students during the application process.
In addition to facilitating visits between our students and college representatives, the college counselors have offered junior and senior parent meetings, and have been working individually with seniors to prepare strong college applications. Seniors attended a workshop prior to the beginning of school to assist them in completing applications. College counselors have been reviewing application essays, editing resumes, and answering many questions. We co-hosted a college fair event with two other high schools, which was very well-received. We are pleased that our seniors are well-prepared for the application process and we look forward to many admission letters bearing good news arriving in the near future! Now that the seniors are well underway in their applications, counselors plan individual meetings with juniors and their parents. These meetings help everyone collaborate during the college search process, in order to help students discover their best college fit. We are also planning programs with 8th, 9th, and 10th graders, as well as college visits in the spring. One thing is for sure—there is never a dull moment in the College Counseling Office at ISI!
