Athletic Department philosophy


  • We believe it is vital for each of our young men and women at ISI to develop their body, mind and spirit.  
  • ISI offers a wide range of athletic activities for students from grades 5-12.
  • We have an “open participation policy” and we are committed to providing athletic opportunities to all of our student-athletes. To the extent it is realistic every student is encouraged to participate in athletics as a participant, team manager or supporter.
  • ISI coaches make every effort to develop each player’s individual sports skills through participation in competitions and especially practices. 
  • Through regular season practices and interscholastic contests, ISI coaches make every effort to play everyone regardless of ability level. 
  • ISI is a member in good standing in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and competes with other private and public schools from all over Indiana and the Midwest.
  • ISI is also an active member in the Indianapolis Independent School League (IISL).  Our upper school teams and athletes compete with and against their peers from 12 other local private schools. 
  • Emphasis is placed on competing to the best of our ability, while still maintaining the characteristics of good sportsmanship win or lose. 
  • International Athletics works closely with the Physical Education Department to further enhance the student’s athletic experiences at ISI.
