Upper School

Continuing the Journey to Global Awareness

  • The energy and sense of purpose is evident throughout the Upper School, encompassing Grades 6 through 12.
  • Students learn not by memorization but by discussion, individual and group work, projects, presentations and other extended tasks that require the students to evaluate information critically and to apply their knowledge to complex situations.
  • The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (for which ISI is currently a candidate school for authorization) at ISI offers a strong international emphasis designed to help students develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to be active participants in a rapidly changing world.
  • Science and math are an important focus throughout the Upper School.
  • Science is taught as far as possible through a hands-on practical approach in our laboratories by qualified science specialists.
  • In Grades 8-10 students have up to three separate classes each week in biology, chemistry and physics, taught by specialist teachers.
  • By the end of Grade 10,  ISI students have exceeded the science requirement for the Indiana Honors Diploma, and go on to our IB Diploma programme where they study either one or two sciences at an advanced level for a further two years, providing them with an outstanding preparation for science, technology and engineering subjects at college.
